Planning a Trip:

The ideal time to plan a visit to Gulmit Continental is from March onwards. The season lasts unl November, it is advisable to plan a minimum of five to six nights stay at Gulmit Continental and all the areas surrounding it can keep one enraptured. A vacaon spent at Gulmit Continental is a lifeme experience that one would want to relive again and again. Located at a height of 2500 meters commonly known as the roof of the world it is only a three hours’ drive from Gilgit airport. The first impression of Gulmit Continental is that of a fairyland. The summer is very green with abundance of apple laden trees, almonds, apricots, cherries, peaches, plums, pears, mulberries and grapes.

 

Travel by Air:

Gulmit Continental is accessible by air. There is ATR flights operating daily from Islamabad it takes approximately 55 minutes. This is one of the world’s most spectacular flight which takes you over the Kaghan valley along the Himalayan range, A few minutes later on your right hand side of the air cra you can see the famous Nanga Parbat (8126m) also called the killer mountain. Before the air craft is about to descend on the far le you can see the karakoram range where the famous K-2 the second highest peak in the world. The five highest 8000 meters peaks which are clustered between the longest glaciers in the world are in the area of Gilgit Baltistan.

 

Approach by Road:

If you wish travelling by car, van or coaster you get on the M-2 motorway going to Peshawar and exit at Hassanabdal and follow the road to Abbottabad city passing through Mansehra, Balakot to Kaghan, it is a beautiful drive, driving along the Kaghan river to the town of Kaghan and on to Naran town. You are driving on the newly built road driving past lush green meadows, streams and beautiful Lulusar lake on your le hand side to the top of Babusar Pass at a height of 14000 feet and driving down the valley entering Gilgit Baltistan region meeting the famous Karakoram Highway turning right on the KKH and driving on to Raikot bridge for a break then further drive to Gulmit Upper Hunza Valley.The journey is very safe all the way try to avoid travelling at night.

Option 1: Leave Islamabad early morning spend the night at Naran after breakfast next morning leave for Gulmit Continental have lunch and freshen up at Raikot bridge and proceed to Gulmit Continental Hotel and you will be there in the evening.  

Option 2: Leave Islamabad early morning, stop a few hours at Besham have lunch and freshen up then drive straight to Chilas spend the night and leave next morning for Gulmit Continental Hotel and you will be there around lunch time.
